Cambridgeshire Folk Tales

Cambridgeshire Folk Tales, published by the History Press ISBN: 9780752466286 was published in October 2014 and should be available from good bookshops or online. Copies have also been purchased by the Cambridgeshire Library service and are available for loan. This book has been given a 2015 award by the Cambridgeshire Association for Local History.

Whilst writing the book, I carried out research on the storytellers and collectors of the county. As part of this, a brief biography on W.H. Barrett can be found via the storytellers link on the right of this page

Since writing the book, I have continued exploring some of the content as part of WEA, and now independent courses. The course has been held in March, Cambridgeshire (Spring term 2014), Bottisham (Autumn term 2014), Yaxley and Godmanchester (Spring term 2015), Alconbury (Autumn term 2015), Royston (Spring term 2016), Cottenham (Summer term 2016), Burwell (Autumn 2016), Swaffham, Norfolk (Summer 2017), Downham Market (Spring 2018) and Great Gransden (Spring 2019).

The next course will be held in Buntingford in Autumn 2019.

The blurb for the course is:
Exploring some of the more popular myths and legends of the county and of the Fens, including locational details, who told the stories, where they were told, and when.
